Hormones

Hormones: What Changes a Young Girl Can Expect

Your young girl going through puberty may bring a lot of physical changes, but it also brings hormonal and emotional changes too.

Hormones and emotions

Hormones and emotions, (feelings) are very connected. Hormonal changes can send your young girl’s emotions into overdrive. They may feel on top of the world one day but horrible the next, and they may not be able to work out why, while these changes may also surprise you as a parent or guardian. Females start to experience a mix of emotions when their hormone production kicks in at puberty and they start to get periods. It is important to help your young girl maintain good nutrition so that they can avoid hormonal imbalance and mood swings.

The more you understand PMS symptoms and how hormones can affect your young girl’s body, mind and emotions, the better you will be able to help them cope with whatever hormones throw their way. Talking openly about hormones and emotions will also help you build a deeper bond and relationship with them.
